Limit colonizability to home planet type quality and -1

When I play a race starting with an earth type planet, I can only colonize planets of this type and those of one quality level below earth (oceanic, arctic, desert). So far, so good. But when I select barren as home planet type, I can colonize all types of planets - which has proven to be a huge adv...

Re: Star Trek Mod

There are some 23rd century ship classes you haven't used yet (Constellation is the most popular one of those). Do you know the website Memory Alpha? Maybe this could help: http://en.memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Starship_classifications http://en.memory-alpha.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Federati...

Add new ship module: Communications relay

When playing on large maps I always end up in a situation where I am in one of the corners of the map and in the very far opposing corner there is one to more empire(s) I cannot communicate with because we share no two colonies within communications range. Currently I adress this issue by building s...

Re: Star Trek Mod

First of all: Thank you for your work so far! I like the idea of playing Horizon with Star Trek ships and factions :D When I tried your mod I was wondering about it and at first I didn't know why. But then the idea got clear in my head and I think I know now. While you obviously chose races from TOS...

[1.0.2.141] Galactic Council gatheres before all races met

I recently played some Horizon matches and enjoyed the galactic council feature. While playing I noticed a strange behavior: Galactic council is supposed to gather when all races have met each other (or more precise: When the player has met all races). However, if the player get's knowledge of other...

Re: Galactic Council election

Due to a lack of time I have only read the starting post in this quest. My opinion on this is: Please leave majority as it currently is (at 60%) - it feels perfect for me. I could win without having to conquer more than the half of the galaxy and without every other empire voting for me. I tried thi...

Re: What exactly is "reckless expansion"?

The reckless expansion (controversy) is based on how much a race has expanded within the last 10 turns. If it's greater than the set threshold then other races may complain via diplomacy (only once every 10 turns). There is a minor tolerance hit if they complain. Expansion is calculated by the amou...

Ah, I thought this option only applies to turn summary messages. But it would make sense to use this setting for ISN reports as well.

Re: What exactly is "reckless expansion"?

I have a new theory of my own. If you will note on the galactic map the little circle around star systems. This is the territory that empires own. My new theory is that when you colonize a system in which the territory "bumps" into theirs that it really annoys them because you are in fact...

Re: [1.0.0.94] ISN sometimes misses reports

News have different priorities and non-critical news were being culled by default (this was so we wouldn't spam the player with too much news). With the next update we have made a few changes so all but statistical news (all except low priority news) will be shown to the player! I see. Maybe this s...

Re: What exactly is "reckless expansion"?

I've got a new theory on how "reckless expansion" demand works: It seems to occur every time when the player colonizes a planet that an AI player had already discovered and would like to colonize himself. For example: If you colonize barren or toxic planets, you'll never get this demand. B...

I think the demand for a system on the other side of the galaxy backgrounds to the wish of extended operations range. I noticed that AI empires will more likely give the player control over "core systems" (close to homeworld) than over "border systems".

Re: [1.0.0.94] Refitted troop trans cannot colonize

I have noticed on rare occasions that it takes 2 turns before a colonization happens after I gave the command. I suspect it may be the ship moves to the designated planet one turn and then does the colonizing the next. Have you tried waiting another 1 or 2 turns to see if it happens? 5 turns. And t...

Re: Please add cross alliances

I'm not sure if you have thought about this here. If empire A is at war with empire C, by allying with empire B it would seem absurd for them to suddenly be allied with empire C as well considering they are currently at war with each other. Same goes if empire C has a "hostile" attitude t...

Re: Please add cross alliances

I didn't play Sword of the Stars and I actually don't know exactly in which 4X game I encountered that feature - I think it was Endless space. I just think that if any empire A allies with another empire B which is already alliied with empire C that there should be a mechanism in the game to ally em...

I got one for the surrender part:

Owning 3/4 of the galaxy and being in war with the Varaians who had only 1 planet left, they came to me asking for me to surrender to them. It just made me smile and you probably guess my answer

Yeah, more random events will spice the game up. I found some while reviewing the language files so I suppose it is already on the todo list but the devs didn't come around to it yet. Look at [HorizonHome] > lang > en > gamedata > random_events.xml I liked the space monsters in MOO2 which were guard...

Re: Setting up custom games

Thanks for posting this. After I finish my game on normal mode I'm going to give classic a try. I like the way normal mode feels like a living galaxy but I've spent a lot of turns defending my small empire and kissing the asses of the stronger races. I'd like to try a more even footing next time. T...
