Appreciate the update, Raf. I understand that you're probably not ready to announce whether the game is releasing in 2021, but it at least sounds like you can now see the light at the end of the tunnel, which is good to hear.
Looking forward to the website changes, and future info!

Re: Merry X-mas 2021
Happy Holidays, everyone! Here's looking forward to next year being better than this one. :P Merry Christmas everyone! I hope everybody is having good holidays as much as it is possible under the current pandemic. It's been a difficult year for many in the world but we're finally seeing the light at...

Re: When can we expect some news?
I'm curious about the game's progress as well. Do you think you'll be releasing this year, Zaimat, or will we be waiting a good while yet?

Re: Trade in Horizon 2?
Can trade routes be attacked at all? Commerce raiding obviously happens quite a bit in wartime, and I've always appreciated the few games that manage to represent this in some fashion. There is also a galactic market which dictates and displays resource prices based on supply/demand and the ability ...

Re: When can we expect some news?
The current largest map preset is for 240 stars (with up to 10 planets per system). Higher number of stars are possible (up to 500 or even 1000) but there are performance and gameplay ramifications. So we only want to focus on the current preset targets, at least for the launch version. Nice! I lov...

Re: When can we expect some news?
Thanks for the update/info, Zaimat . It's honestly good to know work continues, as well as what you've (more specifically) been working on. :) Kind of a random question, but do you have any plan/idea for how large the maps in Horizon 2 will be? Also, will all the races/empires come "pre-made&qu...

Re: When can we expect some news?
Any updates on this? While I admittedly didn't get into Horizon like Anguille did (cheers, mate!), there are a lot of things I like about the game, and am definitely looking forward to the sequel.

Re: Donate to Build the Autobots a Moonbase!
I like how Armada handled it, it was called Bureaucracy (which sounds nicer and better than corruption, but has the same effect). It reduced popularity (which was important in that game, but since Horizon doesn't have an analogue at the moment I will skip this one), and reduced tax revenue. Now exp...

Re: Donate to Build the Autobots a Moonbase!
What about implementing some sort of "Corruption" or "Bureaucracy" mechanic that eats an increasing percentage of your income the larger your population grows (up to a point of course)? A number of strategy games have this feature (or something similar) already, and it works fair...

Re: Pay to Win! (Not what you might think.)
Given the game's alpha state, I expect the AI will be pretty rudimentary for some time yet. Glad they're already working on and improving it, though!

That's awesome, Zaimat! It's pretty much exactly how I like research to work in 4x games.

Re: An Interview with Strategy Informer
Hey, I'm not criticizing the decision, as I personally don't mind. I'm admittedly concerned it could hurt sales, but I also recognize why you made that design choice -- as you said, adding playable factions besides the Humans would greatly delay the game's release.

Re: An Interview with Strategy Informer
Nice article! I enjoyed reading about your design philosophy for Horizon , your motivations, etc. The article also answered a question I've been meaning to ask for some time now (but I've kept forgetting), which is whether Humans will be the only playable race. (I suspected the answer was "yes&...

Re: AI, nothing more
Welcome to the forums, eidolad ! :) While I won't say AI is absolutely the most important factor -- I personally find atmosphere/immersion to be more critical to a game's overall enjoyment (including strategy games) -- I definitely agree it should have high priority. Here's hoping Horizon is able to...

Re: Suggestion for gameplay ideal
The more typical scouting mechanism used in MOO effectively does the same thing though I agree. We took a slightly different approach. In Horizon your ships can be directed to move anywhere but there are other restrictions such as communication range and supplies range. Ships out of communication r...
