Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Happy Birthday, I hope you had a nice cake to celebrate! I will have more details as we get closer to Gamescom, things are still being worked out but I will try to do something for those who can't be there and are interested. About those games, I don't know much about them just that they are in deve...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Some news I thought that might be of interest if any of you go to Gamescom this August (21-26) or live near Cologne, Germany.. I will be at Gamescom showing our new game so if you would like to see what we have been cooking (or just to say Hi) either at the show or a venue nearby I'd be happy to mee...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
I do think the graphics standards have changed and not just for 4x space strategy with engines like Unity or Unreal4 becoming very accessible. Graphics and the game design has a big impact on game performance and that is a big challenge for 4x games. While Horizon could support thousands of units an...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Making progress on development but holding off on the announcement still. We have been doing an optimization pass this month to improve game performance. Having a seamless galaxy (zoom-in from the galaxy level all the way down to the unit) with open travel, units pathfinding (finding the optimal pat...

Re: Terraforming
Focus Research in the BioTech tech field and you have a chance to discover Terraforming. Once you have it researched, you can go to each colonized planet that isn't your races ideal (your homeworld is the ideal type) and select to terraform. The setting is in the top-left panel via the Ecology Contr...

Re: How to I split ship from a fleet?
It should look like this. Select the task force (from 1st row) and then right-click on the ships (on the 2nd row).

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Sorry for the late reply, despite our best intentions we couldn't make an official announcement just yet. This is mainly due to some discussions with other parties/publishers and we had to see these through. I don't expect the delay to be too long but if it does we will move ahead regardless with mo...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Planet specialities (old civilization, mining ressources etc). Makes them all unique. I actually would love to see them even more unique: for example a research world should be very important and the loss of that planet would mean a huge minus for the empire. Instead of the fixed number of district...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Sounds great. I guess that some things are already set, right? Could you please just tell us the base things that are already decided? This makes making suggestions easier. Thanks! Yes of course! The game will be turn-based but different than Horizon. The back-end is running in real-time, me...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Does that mean you're still in alpha? I was hoping to see some screenshots already soon. We are still in full development just over two years now, so screenshots will come but there is more to do and show before that so hang in there! The new game is being developed completely from the ground up wi...

Re: [Split] When can we expect some news?
Will we be able to make suggestions? Do you plan to make an EA again? Suggestions are always welcome, let us consider all the possibilities. :) I think I'd like to hear what you (our players) want out of a new Horizon game first, then we will lay out our vision and later as the game starts to take ...

Today is the 3 year anniversary for Horizon's release. So I think I can confirm here that we are working on a new Horizon game. ![Smile :)](./images/smilies/icon_smile.gif)

Re: Default ship designs
You can't directly edit the default ship designs. What you can edit is ship_design_stats.xml, which is under the main gamedata folder (not the race specific one). It edits the general stats by ship class. For races you can indirectly affect their ship design by giving them different starting techs (...

Re: Weapons and mount sizes (incl. spoilers re: weapon speci
Early game it's usually a good idea to focus on getting one weapon type high enough to be effective (less chance to miss, unlock special, etc). But yes each weapon has advantages once level 5 unlocked, for example lasers are best for crippling ships with critical hits and board them.

Re: Weapons and mount sizes (incl. spoilers re: weapon speci
Hello MindQuake. here are some answers: 1. The pulse cannon energy drain like other negative effects has a duration, the de-buff effect gets weaker until it expires. While the effect doesn't stack from multiple attacks but it does get re-applied to full effect. 2. Missiles have travel time, can be s...

Re: Change game language
Hey Vissavald,
I'll provide both ways to do it:
From Steam Client: You can right-click on Horizon in library, select Properties, Language, English
OR
Without Steam Client (or Steam closed): Make sure Horizon is not running. Open Horizon.ini in your Documents folder and change
PREFERENCE_LANG=EN

Hi Vissavald, you can play Horizon without the Steam client. You only need it to download any future updates.Vissavald wrote:So the question is, can I buy Horizon on Steam and play it WITHOUT Steam, is having the Steam-clent running (or having it installed and being offline) needed for playing?

Re: Claim on systems
The "Habitable planets - Common" setting gives "equal" weight for spawning all planet types. Although the weights are modified by the star type. Setting it to rare halves the chance for Terran/Ocean/Desert/Arctic. What you may be noticing is the size of planets? It is almost alwa...
