It would be really useful to have a "profile manager" to be able to play several different games at the same time under different profile names.

Any specific reason for this? You wish to keep saved games separate per profile is my guess?

Yes, especially under beta conditions where testing features and gameplay issues are more important than would be the case in the finished game, it would allow reference to different strategies.
