So I just reported this. I just had the Kuntari attack me randomly. We're allies (formal alliance) both before and after the combat.
If there was a sneak attack mechanic I'd be okay with it, but...huh?

Thanks for submitting this bug. We have fixed it and will be in the next patch. It wasn't due to sneak attack but rather the AI was erroneously anticipating war with you and didn't re-evaluate after you became friends and allied.
