Heavy Weapons?

So....yeah. I've got huge piles of heavy lasers and they miss all the time.

Is there some sort of space magic that makes me miss all the time?

Your Targeting systems affect the hitroll and their Defense ECM systems counter this. There are other factors (like stealth, cloak, racial bonus (currently all races equal), crew experience (disabled) for example) but those are the main ones. Light weapons have +25% higher chance to hit, high level weapon mods etc.
