Re: Galaxy generation
We currently have Spiral Galaxy shapes with it being configurable between 2 to 8 arms. The more arms selected will result into a more circular and evenly spaced cluster of stars. The generator is completely procedural so there is nearly infinite possibilities with stars placement (including faction ...

Re: Leaders / staff
I don't think we will be able to do Espionage and Covert stuff until after release, possibly in an expansion. So that will have to wait post-launch.

Re: Manual
That's great that you were able to get a physical copy of the game. I also have the boxes and physical manuals for all those games except IG2. A different but awesome era of gaming, I don't know that we will ever be able to make a physical box again for our new games but it would be cool to do a phy...

Re: Leaders / staff
Oh yes! They have been an integral part of the game from the initial design and one of my favorite things to add. There is so much more I plan to do with them but this is something that will keep evolving.

Re: Modding
I'm a big believer in modding support (Horizon 1 had extensive modding capabilities including writing quests for it and the documentation with examples) but the reality is for most strategy games unless it has a huge community there won't be enough modding to make use of the effort involved to add s...

Re: Manual
The Horizon 1 manual is about 50 pages or so LINK . I would be interested to know how many people who got the game read it and if they found it helpful. I wrote it and I wouldn't mind if someone did a better job at writing it. ;) But it's meant to be an introduction, easy to understand and not get t...

Re: Music
Definitely, I agree Music and Audio can add a lot to a game. I actually met with a couple of well-known composers very early on (one of them orchestrated the music for Bloodborne on PS4, and had also worked on some major movie titles). I think it would be awesome to work with them but there are also...

Re: When can we expect some news?
Just wondering how you intend to make the galaxy feel "alive". Distant Worlds did a very good job there with plenty of civilian units flying around (similar to Imperium galactica 1) and space monsters etc). So what is your take? I did touch on this a bit in the Trade Topic , but yes you w...

Re: Galactic Civilization 4 soon available (alpha)
You'll definitely be at the front-line for testing Horizon 2 as soon as I am ready to use the feedback properly. By the way, we've been using the the Epic launcher for 7 years, since Unreal Engine (which we are using for the development of Horizon 2) was actually the first app on it. My games/apps l...

Re: When can we expect some news?
Interesting. What do you have in mind with a minimalist UI? An aim toward a clean modern looking UI that provides all the necessary information when required (with a fine balance between text and iconology) and emphasizing a sci-fi/hi-tech vibe. With fewer and more neutral colors on the UI to allow...

Re: When can we expect some news?
Had a bit of a lull in activity but currently working on the User Interface system. Horizon 2 will have a more modern minimalist UI. Perhaps we can talk more about it.

Re: Galactic Civilization 4 soon available (alpha)
Looking forward to see what they do. They do look more like an iterative upgrade to their predecessors. Horizon 2 will be different in that it's being built and designed new from the ground-up, so while some core tenets and lore will be familiar it will also be a substantially different game than Ho...

Re: Game PC System Specs
If you are planning a PC upgrade, currently supply can't keep up with demand on components like the latest Ryzen 5000 CPUs and Nvidia RTX 3000 GPUs but it should get better by Summer. I would recommend the new Nvidia RTX 30xx series GPU for both desktop and laptops if you plan to upgrade. It offers ...

Game PC System Specs
Traditionally 4x and Strategy games haven't required modern PC specs or benefited much but this is changing. Things like increased CPU cores and multi-threading have become more mainstream and GPUs (Graphic cards) even more so with rasterization performance and higher VRAM buffers. All of these enab...

I was finally able to complete the update to the forums. The upgrade comes with many benefits including responsive web design. If you find any issues please let me know.

Re: When can we expect some news?
Also had a chat yesterday with a new player (bought the game based on my recommandation) who loves the game (MOO and BOTF player). So there are still people interested in Horizon 1 ;) which is imho still the superior 4x game around. Can't wait to see how Horizon 2 will amaze everyone. That is great...

Re: Employement on planets
What is still obscure to me is how the multiplications are dones (population x (buildings x improvements). The question is really to know when it makes sense to build an improvement or not based on the population. The formula is basically as you say it but a lot more complex due to modifiers from a...
