Refitting ships

How can you change the fittings on ships? I thought I would be able to change them once I had built a starbase, but I was sorely disappointed.

Probably, you need to change the design that corresponds to already built ships. If you save it, then probably ships will be refitted at the next turn to this new design if they on orbit of the planet with starbase.
Another idea - very left button in Design screen.

Currently it's not possible to redesign/reconfigure an existing ship. It's something we would like to add at some point. Starbase design will happen first.
