Thoughts from a prospective buyer [Steam]

Post by Gorgoth24 »

To preface, I haven't bought the game. I just noticed it on Steam and it piqued my interest. I'd just like to give some feedback on what has interested me and what I would like to see more of. Also, having been burned buying 4X games early on before (SOTS2 & Legends of Pegasus) leads me to be incredibly skeptical buying games from this genre, even though it is my favorite genre of all time.

Things I love seeing: A developer who obviously cares, a lore-minded and immersion-minded outlook on the game, and a real combat system (as opposed to Endless Space).

Things that should be more visible: The nature of the combat systems, the ship design system, and the A.I. system. Adding videos to your steam store page that show gameplay footage (closer to walkthroughs then clips) from the Combat (Space and Ground) and Ship Design system would really help inform buyers like myself of what we're really looking for. While the description of the A.I. as a "non-cheating A.I." and A.I. that is co-operative among the teams earns you bukos of points in my book, and makes me extremely hopeful about this game, a description of some more of the advanced strategies/scenarios the A.I. can handle would definitely help to convince me that it would be a worthy opponent.

While I realize that this game is still in development and that these systems are hardly finished I think that these suggestions would help with advertising the game, even if they aren't acted upon until the official release. I also apologize as to not buying the game as you had no hand in the failure of SOTS2 and LoP, but it is the sad realization of this genre that so many promising games flop.

I will be monitoring your forums (including replies to this thread), store page, and youtube for good gameplay footage and development progress and will hopefully be buying this game as it heads closer to final release!

P.S. A.I. > Combat > Ship design for my votes on developmental direction (just my two cents)

Well, I have been disappointed in recent 4X releases, my favourite 4X game of all time is Master of Orion 2, which has sat on the throne of 4X for a VERY long time and so far, this Horizon game has the possibility to become the new game to sit on that throne, assuming it stays as good as it is right now.

Thanks Gorgoth for your suggestions, just wanted to acknowledge.. There is quite a bit more info about Horizon since the alpha launch and lots more to come. We hope more people find out about Horizon, we are certainly working on this game with passion (and a long time) and want to make it as enjoyable and entertaining as you.
