Hi all!
First off, let me say I am enjoying the game so far.
I'm having a bit of a problem with the races and the way that they act. I wanted to try a huge map with some very easy other races... so I customized their personalities, but this didn't seem to do anything? Did I miss something or does this feature not work yet? I hope I just missed something? It's either that or these guys just don't like me for some reason and are still acting aggressive?
Ok, let me also state that I enjoy doing the micro-management thing with the colonies, usually. But, as others have stated this does get a bit tedious. Colony ships running back and forth all over the map and then having to tell them to orbit a planet be refitted is not a good thing. However, I can understand making them have to go to a star base/ship yard to be refitted, but there should be a simple button on the ship/fleet screen that says, "Return to nearest base for refit" which should do all this for you.
System ownership... this is more of personal taste I think, but why would some other race even let you settle in their systems or vice versa why would you let them settle in yours? I just find this a bit awkward, unless you're already at war with them and simply don't care?
Oh, I haven't found the terraforming tech yet, or the stargate tech yet... but is there some sort of explanation for the terraforming tech? Like it can terraform a desert planet one step to a terran planet? Or a terran planet to say a water world? Just curious if it has such info on it? Of course, some more info about how the stargate actually works would be cool too.
Last thing, the map. I agree that there should be some sort of icon on the map for a star base, a star gate, and a shipyard. And yes, I know there are icons in the system screen already.
Ok, there's my two cents and thanks for taking the time to read/respond to this, as it's appreciated.

The normal difficulty is a pretty rough for being a normal difficulty. I recommend trying a game with the "easy" difficulty as it will give you the most balanced game play.I'm having a bit of a problem with the races and the way that they act. You do have the ability in classic mode to make races friendly toward you. For more detailed info please see this post
You are correct that you do have to send them to a system with either a shipyard or a starbase to have them refitted. Once in a system with a starbase or shipyard they will automatically orbit / dock and repair.Ok, let me also state that I enjoy doing the micro-management thing with the colonies, usually. Once you have this tech you have the ability to colonize every type of planet except for gas giants. You can also set the colony to where it will terraform and once you have set it then it will gradually change it's type until it becomes the optimal type for your race.Oh, I haven't found the terraforming tech yet, or the stargate tech yet... but is there some sort of explanation for the terraforming tech? AI will never colonize systems in other races territory unless they are allied with them. Likewise, its not a good tactic to colonize in their systems unless you are allied with them.System ownership... this is more of personal taste I think, but why would some other race even let you settle in their systems or vice versa why would you let them settle in yours? I just find this a bit awkward, unless you're already at war with them and simply don't care?

Happy to hear that!Corgano wrote:Hi all! First off, let me say I am enjoying the game so far.
The race traits do work in subtle but important ways. They affect how each race reacts during diplomacy and how the AI 'feels' about others. Opposing traits or philosophies will have a negative impact where as similar or compatible traits will make dealings easier. These settings also affect how they play (aggressive or not, how they manage their economy and buildings to meet their philosophy goals and they also use different AI advisors, like warriors use the conqueror AI advisor when planning) etc. With more time dedicated to the AI part of the game it would be possible to add more types of advisors to make them play even more distinctly.I'm having a bit of a problem with the races and the way that they act. We will consider adding a governor option in the future.Ok, let me also state that I enjoy doing the micro-management thing with the colonies, usually. But, as others have stated this does get a bit tedious.
Stargates require building at least 2 of them, then ships can move between them in 1 turn if they are near one stargate.Of course, some more info about how the stargate actually works would be cool too.
Thanks for the rest of your feedback. Did you find the game difficulty too hard at normal on your first game? We are bringing a new update/add-on very soon and we're thinking of setting the default game setting to Easy, which might be more suitable for a first game.
